About Dr. Wong
Felicia K. Wong, MD is a board-certified Psychiatrist and Wellness Consultant located in Los Angeles, California.
She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University, in Providence, RI. She completed her residency training in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA, where she was the Chief Resident in Psychosomatic Medicine (also known as Consult-Liaison Psychiatry). Dr. Wong has completed additional fellowship training in Psychosomatic Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center/Greater Los Angeles VA Medical Center. In August 2011, Dr. Wong joined the Psychiatry team at the Kaiser Foundation Hospital -West Los Angeles (WLA). She is on the voluntary clinical faculty at UCLA.
Dr. Wong is interested in exploring the interface of psychiatry and medical illness. She has been named the Integrated Care Champion at Kaiser WLA, and is working with Primary Care Physicians to help patients with co-existing diabetes, depression, and heart disease. She collaborates with the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology to provide mental health support for women who are pregnant or postpartum. She is particularly interested in providing psychiatric support to cancer patients and survivors.
Dr. Wong understands the important role that culture plays in health and wellness, and has been recognized by the American Psychiatric Association as a SAMHSA Minority Fellow. Aside from patient care, Dr. Wong is actively working on developing innovative ways to provide culturally sensitive mental health care to minority populations. As an activist and advocate, it is her mission to fight the stigma of mental illness and make mental health resources more accessible to everyone. She has developed a mental health educational and resource website for Asian Americans - www.asianmentalwellness.com. Dr. Wong is a regular contributor to the APA Healthy Minds Blog. In 2009, she organized a photography show to fundraise for the Massachusetts Chapter of NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. She regularly participates in the NAMI Walks fundraiser.
